Classical Music Sundays- Neptune- Gustav Holst

Holst’s suite “The Planets” is one of the most recognizable classical music pieces in the world. There are very people in the world that have not heard a few bars of “Mars” and most people can recognize the tune from “Jupiter.” Unfortunately the other movements seem to fall by the wayside and our tragically under-hear . Among these is my personal favorite movement in this suite is the last one, “Neptune.” It is a mysterious, haunting piece that more than any other movement in this suite lets my mind wander to the far reaches of our solar system. (It also helps that Neptune is one of my favorite planet.)
